Residency Verification Opens on July 15

Harrisonville Schools will begin accepting residency verification from current families on July 15 and the annual residency verification event will be held on Aug. 1 from 4:30-7 p.m. at HHS. A new addition to the residency verification event will be New Family Enrollment which will be held from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 at HHS.

 

Residency can be verified with one of the following:

• A current, original utility bill that is no more than 30 days old. The bill must be in the resident’s name, and no final notices will be accepted. UTILITY STATEMENTS INCLUDE GAS, ELECTRIC, AND WATER. THOSE ITEMS THAT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ARE TELEPHONE, CABLE, AND OTHER STATEMENTS. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE UTILITY STATEMENT INCLUDES YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS.

 

• A rental/lease agreement including names of all occupants, dates of agreement and the name, address, phone number and signature of the landlord.

 

• A contract to build or purchase a home within the Harrisonville School District reflecting a possession or closing date within 90 calendar days of the first day of school attendance.

 

Residency documentation must be provided before the first day of school for students to attend class that day. Residency verification can be completed in any of the following ways:

  • Families can e-mail the proof of residency to residency@harrisonvilleschools.org beginning July 15. Please be sure the scanned document includes your name and address. Also, please include your name and your students’ names and grades in the e-mail portion.

  • Families can take your residency papers to the Administrative Offices, 503 S. Lexington, from 8:00 a.m.-11 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. beginning July 15.

  • Families can take residency documents to any school building beginning July 22 during normal school hours.

  • Families can attend the Residency Verification event on Thursday, August 1 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at Harrisonville High School.

    • Please note: If you complete residency verification prior to Aug. 1, you do not need to attend the August 1 event.

    • The Parent Portal will be opened on Aug. 2 so that class placement and schedules will be available.

 

Representatives will be on hand in the Commons Area at Harrisonville High School, 1504 E. Elm, to accept proof of residency documents and answer questions on August 1 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. Parents are asked to enter through the Commons Area/gym doors at HHS.

 

The Residency Verification event will also provide parents and students an opportunity to complete all back-to-school business in one place. High school students will be able to purchase parking passes, pick up yearbooks, and complete laptop paperwork. The food service company, bus company, and school nurses will be on hand to answer any questions.

 

New families to the district are invited to come to HHS from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Aug. 1. To enroll new students, the following documents are needed: Birth Certificate, Immunization Records, Proof of Residency (utility statement, lease agreement), Request for Records, and Court Orders (if applicable). Families can download necessary paperwork and the enrollment packet at www.harrisonvilleschools.org/newfamily. Families can also call the individual schools to set up enrollment appointments beginning July 22.
