Virtual Learning Info

Dear Parent/Guardian:

You are receiving this letter because you have signed up for the virtual learning option during the first semester of the 2020-21 school year. In this letter, we will outline the process for preparing for virtual learning as well as information needed to get you started.

This semester, coursework will be completed using the Odysseyware online learning platform. Students will be enrolled in seven courses that will be available for completion between August 24th and December 23rd. In order to earn credit for these classes, 100% completion of the course material will be required. Each student will be assigned a teacher that will be the contact between home and school. This teacher will be responsible for grading work, unlocking exams, and working to find answers to any questions that may arise over the course of the semester. You will be able to view your teacher on the SIS parent portal starting August 19th.

On the morning of August 24th, your child will receive an email through their school email account with a link, username, and password that will allow them to log-in to the Odysseyware website. From that point forward, the student may work at their own pace to complete their coursework.

Student schedules will be different from the ones developed at our Advisory Night back in March. Core courses will be assigned based on the scope and sequence of our current curriculum. Students will have the option to select their elective courses based on their own personal preferences. Each student will receive a Google Form through their student email account on Thursday, August 13th with a list of possible elective courses to make their selections. Please have them complete this form as soon as possible.

The Harrisonville School District will also be providing technology for all students selecting the virtual option this semester. Each student will receive a Chromebook and charger. The High School will be passing out these items on Friday, August 21st in the student parking lot outside of the commons’ area from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Before students are provided these items, the district technology agreement must be signed and the device insurance fee must be paid. The fee is $10 and can be paid online at this link -

If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to contact me through my email at We look forward to working together with you from a distance!
