Substitute Teachers

  • Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching in the Harrisonville School District. To be a substitute teacher, you must have a Substitute Teaching Certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and successfully complete a FBI/Highway Patrol background check.

Substitute teacher pay is $12.50/hour up to a maximum of $100/day.  Harrisonville Schools uses an automated system to schedule substitute teachers.   More information about our Absence Management System will be provided when the application to substitute teach has been accepted.

    Substitute Teaching Certificate
To obtain a substitute teaching certificate, visit the DESE website to apply:   https://dese.mo.gov/.   If you are a certified teacher in the State of Missouri, you do not need a substitute certificate.

    Fingerprint Background Check
To be fingerprinted for the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education through 3M/Cogent, you must first register with MACHS at www.machs.mo.gov.  You will be required to provide the appropriate 4-digit registration code for Harrisonville Schools:
