Norris, Shrout named January Students of the Month

Kayleigh Norris and Jackson Shrout

The Harrisonville High School Students of the Month for January are Kayleigh Norris and Jackson Shrout. Norris and Shrout were nominated by the high school staff for this award.

Norris is the daughter of Jason and Nicole Norris.

She is involved in DECA, Student Council, National Honor Society, cross country and track. She also serves as a student representative on the district Wellness Committee.

Norris has earned the Excellence in Academics recognition all three years of high school and is on the Principal’s Honor Roll.

She has earned multiple titles in track and cross country. In track, she earned Conference Champion (1600 and 3200), District Champion (800, 1600, 3200), State Champion (1600, 3200), and school record holder (800, 1600, 3200). Cross Country titles include three-time District Champion, State Champion, Greater Kansas City All-Metro first team, Missouri Gatorade Runner of the Year, and school record holder. Additionally, she was Academic All-Conference in both sports.

Outside of school, Norris works at Granny Fays/Cultivate Coffee.

She enjoys running, hanging with friends and family, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, going to farmers markets, being outside as much as possible, baking/cooking, reading the Bible, family sunset walks, and summer tanning.

After high school, Norris is attending the University of Alabama to run cross country and track She plans to major in Business Marketing with a minor in nutrition! 

Shrout is the son of Ashley Shrout and Luke Shrout.

He is involved in DECA, FFA, Music Makers, basketball, and track, and serves as a Bright Futures student representative.

Shrout is DECA President of Finance, basketball senior captain, and Music Makers dance captain.

Outside of school, he works at Sonic.

He enjoys hunting, golfing, and NASCAR.

Shrout plans to major in graphic design at an undecided college.

The HHS Students of the Month are selected on the basis of character, citizenship, and academics.
