McEowen Intermediate School Name Change for 2026-27

The Harrisonville Schools Board of Education voted unanimously at its March 24, 2026, meeting to change the name of McEowen Elementary School to McEowen Intermediate School, effective for the 2026-27 school year.

The change was approved to better reflect the grade levels of third through fifth grades served at the McEowen and help distinguish it from Harrisonville Elementary School, which serves students in kindergarten through second grade.

McEowen has been an important part of Harrisonville Schools since opening in 1973, and the new designation will continue to honor that legacy while more accurately reflecting the school's role within Harrisonville Schools.

Families may begin seeing the new name appear on district communications, websites, forms, and signage as updates are made throughout the summer in preparation for the upcoming school year.

As part of the 2026-27 school year, McEowen Intermediate School will also welcome new leadership. Following Dr. Tricia Falke's transition to assistant superintendent of human resources and operations, Dr. Jason Farnsworth will serve as principal, and Tara Drabant will serve as assistant principal.

We are excited to continue serving students and families at McEowen Intermediate School beginning in August and look forward to another great year of learning and growth.

If you have any questions regarding this change, please contact the district office.
