Library Media Services
Mission
The mission of the Library Media Centers of the Harrisonville School District is to achieve excellence in education by providing equal access to information in a variety of formats, and by empowering each patron to use this information effectively, efficiently and ethically.
Goals
- To help promote, encourage, and foster a love of reading in students.
- To meet the Standards for Missouri Library Media Centers and American Association of School Librarians’ Standards for the 21st Century Learner.
- To provide resources and services which support and expand the curriculum, increase student achievement, and achieve related Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) goals.
- To provide instruction in accessing, using and analyzing resources.
- To collaborate with teachers to design learning activities which promote higher level thinking skills.
- To provide Library Media Centers (LMCs) which facilitate learning through a positive, helpful, and encouraging climate.
- To continue to provide current resources and remove obsolete, outdated, and inaccurate resources according to each facility’s building collection.
- To help integrate technologies within the school and provide support in using them effectively.
- To recognize the diverse learning styles and abilities of our students and provide resources and services to accommodate them.
