Media Release Opt Out

Harrisonville Schools celebrates student learning, achievement, and involvement by sharing photos, videos, audio recordings, student work, names, and accomplishments throughout the school year through district and school communications.

Parents/guardians who do not want their student's name, image, voice, or work used must submit a written request to media.release@harrisonvilleschools.org. The request applies only to the current school year and must be submitted each year during student registration.

A student with a media release opt-out cannot be photographed, recorded, identified, or featured in district communications. As a result, the student cannot be included in, identified in, or recognized through district materials, including, but not limited to:

  • Participation in Missouri State High School Activities Association athletics and activities 

  • School yearbooks

  • Graduation and commencement programs

  • District website

  • District, building, and classroom social media

  • Printed publications, newsletters, and news releases

  • District promotional and marketing materials

  • Athletic programs, rosters, team photos, and recognitions

  • Concert, band, choir, and drama programs

  • Student academic and activity recognitions or recognition ceremonies 

  • Live-streamed or recorded school events

  • Any other district communication or publication that identifies or features students

Please note that this request does not apply to photographs, videos, or recordings taken by news media or by individuals attending events that are open to the public, including athletic contests, concerts, performances, ceremonies, graduations, or other public activities.

By choosing to opt out, the student cannot be photographed, recorded, identified, or featured in district communications or publications as outlined above. A written opt-out request must be submitted to media.release@harrisonvilleschools.org during student registration each school year.
