Teacher Grants

Fall 2023

The Harrisonville Public School Foundation presented Harrisonville Elementary School special education teacher Ashley Barnes a fall teacher grant for $931.77 for VOX Readers which are audiobooks that live in print books. The VOX reader transforms an ordinary print book into an all-in-one read-along. This will be used in Mrs. Barnes special education room to encourage a love of reading by developing skills to better assist with daily reading and better understanding of the text. 

The Harrisonville Public School Foundation presented Harrisonville High School math teacher Kelsey TIllotson a fall teacher grant for $993.96 to fund Applied math supplies. Applied math is a new class at HHS in which students work on group projects such as building picnic tables, bird houses, & raised flower beds to have hands-on practice of the math skills learned in class. The funds will support tools and other necessary supplies for the class.

Cade Filer Teacher Grant

One grant in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded each year (or two $500 grants). The grant will be restricted to equipment/resources that can be used year after year instead of disposable or one-time uses. This grant is funded through an endowment from family and friends in the memory of Cade Filer.
