Foundation hosts successful golf tournament
The Harrisonville Public School Foundation raised approximately $9,000 at its Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament held on Friday, Sept. 18 as part of homecoming festivities. Competing in the four-person scramble tournament were 116 participants.
The Foundation will use the proceeds to fund programming including classroom grants, the Advanced Degree Teacher Initiative, the Excellence in Academics program and scholarships.
The winning foursome of Andrew Leone, Matt Lutes, Alex Fiore and Benji Criner shot a 52. Sponsored by Strategic Financial, the winning team in the B flight had Aaron Sloan, Tyler Friedrich, Timothy Finley, and Josh Oparnico as teammates.
Contest hole winners were Nick Funk, men’s longest drive; Pam Davis, women’s longest drive; and Travis Brave, closest to the pin.True Wildcat sponsors for the event were Edward Jones, Dr. Shaun and Susan Holden, HES Facilities Management and Phoenix Restoration. The lunch sponsor was Jencap Insurance Services.
Royal Blue sponsors were Big Yield; Cass Regional Medical Center; Family Center Farm & Home; Hawthorn Bank; Holland’s Auto Sales; Hollis + Miller Architects; Piper Sandler & Co.; Sherwood Community Bank; and Strategic Financial - Aaron Sloan, MBA. The drink cart was sponsored by American Heritage Realty. Contest sponsors were ReeceNichols Smith Realty and Toni Wiseman. White/hole sponsors were Commerce Bank, the Harrisonville Kiwanis Club, the Harrisonville Rotary Club and State Farm Insurance - Steve Croy.

Nominate an HHS graduate for the Wall of Fame
Through Nov. 13, 2026, the Harrisonville Public School Foundation will accept nominations for the Harrisonville High School Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame. The 2027 class of inductees will be recognized during the school’s annual courtwarming festivities this winter.
The Wall of Fame honors and recognizes HHS alumni who exemplify the values, traditions and successes of Harrisonville High School. These individuals serve as role models for current students as they inspire those students to achieve goals and make a positive impact in their communities.
To be eligible, nominees must be graduates of Harrisonville High School and must have graduated at least 10 years prior to nomination. Posthumous nominations are accepted. Candidates should demonstrate exemplary achievement in their chosen field, have received notable recognition or awards or have provided outstanding service to their communities.
Nominations should describe the nominee’s impact and contributions in no more than 250 words, and they’re encouraged to include supporting materials such as newspaper articles, stories or letters of recommendation.
Anyone may nominate a graduate for consideration by the Nov. 13, 2026, deadline. Nominations can be made online at www.harrisonvilleschools.org/foundation Supporting materials can be mailed to or dropped at this address:

| Recapping the Homecoming Huddle Up
The 2026 Homecoming Huddle Up class giving challenge raised more than $1,700 for Foundation programs. Alumni from 10 classes donated as part of the challenge. The class of 1989 had the most individual donors, who collectively gave more than $500. Thank you to all the alumni who contributed to the fundraiser, which was hosted during the two weeks before HHS homecoming. |

| Foundation presents Mark Twain grant
Each year, the Foundation provides a $500 grant to McEowen Intermediate School in support of the Mark Twain reading program. The grant enables the library to purchase multiple copies of the Mark Twain nominees each year so more students can have the opportunity to read the books. Educator of the Year honored in homecoming parade
The Foundation was thrilled to shine the spotlight on Angie Diggs, the 2026 Harrisonville Schools Educator of the Year, during the homecoming parade last week. Diggs teaches in the Cass Career Center health services program, and she's one of five Educator of the Year awardees who work at the CCC!
Joining Diggs in the parade were the 2012 and 2021 Educators of the Year: Lisa Elifrits, CCC integrated math, and Nichole Tews, CCC assistant director. Ag instructor Jason Dieckhoff and criminal justice/CSI instructor Chandra Kelly are also past Educators of the Year. |

Preschool students benefit from classroom grant
Mrs. Cecil's preschoolers at Harrisonville Early Childhood Center are excited to explore creativity using their new easel made possible by a classroom grant! The easel gives children opportunities to experiment with colors, lines, shapes and different painting techniques.
As they paint, they develop important skills such as fine-motor control, hand-eye coordination, concentration, language, and confidence. They also practice making independent choices, sharing materials, taking turns and caring for classroom art supplies. |

Drama department receives Legacy Grant
A Bill Mills Leaving a Legacy mini grant is helping the HHS drama department bring its fall musical, Ride the Cyclone, to life. Grant funds supported the department in purchasing costumes and materials such as lumber and paint needed for the production.
Through the Leaving a Legacy program, four-year Excellence in Academics recipients select a program, organization or department that made an impact on their high school careers to receive a mini grant for $250. Tucker Snook, a 2026 graduate, chose the drama department to receive the Leaving a Legacy grant. You can attend a Ride the Cyclone performance from Nov. 12-14 and Nov. 20-21 in the HHS Performing Arts Center. |

The Harrisonville Public School Foundation wants to help make reconnecting even more memorable. If your reunion is scheduled during football season, then we can arrange reserved seating, so your class can enjoy a Wildcat game together. We can also help coordinate a tour of Harrisonville High School, so classmates can revisit favorite spaces, see what’s changed and celebrate shared memories.

Foundation shares highlights with board of education
In September, Foundation president Laura Frees presented information to the Harrisonville Schools board of education about the Foundation and its work. This annual partner presentation provides the Foundation with an opportunity to share updates and highlight the support provided to students and staff in the district. |

| Support the Foundation, and show your Wildcat pride!
Made of durable, weather-resistant material, Wildcat yard signs are available on an ongoing basis. Proceeds support the Foundation. You can purchase a sign alone or with personalized plaques. A plaque can display a student activity, last name, Class of ??, alum or whatever message you like up to 15 characters. The yard signs (Wildcat sign/stake/hardware) are $60 each, and each personalized plaque is $12.
Orders will be placed on the 15th of each month. Payment is required before we will finalize your order. Buyers will be notified via email that a sign or plaque is ready to pick up at the district administrative office, 503 S. Lexington. |
