Giving to the Foundation

Unrestricted gifts to the Harrisonville Public School Foundation provide flexible support that helps meet the district’s greatest needs. These donations, along with any investment income they generate, are treated as operating funds. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees carefully determines how these funds are used to ensure they align with the Foundation’s mission and goals and create the greatest impact for Harrisonville students and schools.

Restricted endowment gifts are designated by donors to support a specific program, initiative, or purpose. These funds are managed separately and used only as directed by the donor. To ensure long-term impact, the original gift (principal) remains invested and preserved, while only the investment income generated by the endowment may be used to support the designated purpose.

The Harrisonville Public School Foundation is actively building a General Endowment fund to ensure the perpetuity of the organization. Only the interest from this endowment will be used to fund Foundation programming. The Sustaining Donor Campaign is our current drive for the General Endowment.

The Harrisonville Public School Foundation has launched its Sustaining Donors Campaign, an effort aimed at strengthening the Foundation’s general endowment and securing long-term support for Harrisonville students and staff. The Foundation is seeking 75 new Sustaining Donors, each contributing $1,000 to help increase the endowment from its current $525,000 to a campaign goal of $600,000. Because only the interest from the endowment is used, this fund ensures Foundation programs continue for generations to come.

For 35 years, the Foundation has provided essential support through programs such as District Grants—which fund innovative projects across all schools—and Excellence in Academics, which recognizes top student scholars and awards annual scholarships.

Gifts may be made as a single contribution or through installment plans over one or two years. Donors are also permanently recognized on the Tree of Knowledge in the Harrisonville High School Performing Arts Center, a lasting tribute to their commitment to future Wildcats.
