• HMS Awards & Talent Show
    Harrisonville Middle School honored numerous student accomplishments and showcased student talent during an assembly on the last day of class, May 24.

    A boy and girl from each team at HMS was selected as the Students of the Year.  The honorees included sixth graders Eddie Eastland, Kenzie Meeks, Cayden Ritter, and Miranda Fisher; seventh graders Gage Sousley, Kinsley Brannon, Peyton Ritter, and Carson Yantzi; and eighth graders Jace Reynolds, Victoria Wise, Logan Quinley, and Katie Fitzgerald.

    Those students earning Perfect Attendance for the 201-18 school years were also recognized.  They were Brady Waughtal, Lance Cutair, Preston Baker, Gunner Lee, Michael Ripperger, Evan Pulliam, Alyssa Cox, Ayllita Khieu, Morgan Evans, Sydney Farr, Mason Englebrick, Katie Fitzgerald, Carly Cornelsen, and Mercy Kirkemo.

    Eighth grader Katie Fitzgerald was also honored for perfect attendance for all three years at HMS.

    Eighth graders who maintained Principal’s Honor Roll status throughout their three years at HMS were also honored.  They were Collin Wyzard, Gracie Wood, Justin Vaughn, Desta Mitchell, Skyla Thresher, Chloe Shepard, Katelyn Young, Ella Shelton, Alex Sheldrake, Reagan Rouse, Kayla Schuhler, Addison Parker, Diego San Nicolas, Jaxon Morris, Logan Quinley, Kenneth Reed, Kaylee Turner 2nd row=Presley Zaring, Kylie Meeks, Roman McDermed, Morgan Kampe, Taylor Mathews, Samuel Hedges, Madison Costner, Lillian Davis, Braeden Elifrits, Morgan Evans, Casen Hayes, Macie Collings, Cheyenne Cesonis, Maria Cesonis, Connor Everhart, Katie Fitzgerald, Piper Foreman, Karter Jones, Emily Joseph, Katlyn Walsh 3rd row=Madelyn Wilson, Austin Bullock, Anna Brauer, Audrey Barnes, Raigenn Basnight, Caleb Baker, Drew Appleman, Byron Brooks, Jake Brines, Melaina Beachner, Andrew Bullock, Payton Baker, Venessa Butler, Makiah Clark, Deserae Chiles, Mary Bronson, Madelyn Dawson, Kylie McGee, and Carson Miller.

    One of the annual awards at the HMS End-of-the-Year assembly is the Katie Rios Scholarship presentation.  The scholarship is presented to an 8th grader for disbursement at the time of his/her graduation from HHS in memory of Katie Rios.  This year’s recipient was Paige Quinter.

    The Donna Pfautsch HATS Scholarship was also presented.  Like the Rios Scholarship, it is presented to an 8th grader for disbursement at the time of his/her graduation.  The HATS Scholarship is awarded to an 8th grade HATS student on the academic excellence; diverse personal, academic, and community interests; a love for learning; and use of talent, imagination, and teamwork to accomplish goals, address challenges, and solve problems.  The 2018 recipient was Piper Forman.

    In addition, the school honored the students of the month for April and May.  The sixth grader honorees were Alexis Walker, Libby Lundeen, Brady Waughtal, Charles Sturgeon, Trenton Kirby, Peyton Ritter, Gael Rios, and Lucy Thomas.  Seventh grade students of the month were Casen Hayes, Ella Shelton, Drew Appleman, Morgan Evans, Jaxon Morris, Venessa Butler, Kenneth Reed, and Piper Foreman.  The eighth grade honorees were Kara Lemmer, Cole Hart, Ian Briggs, Madalyn Ritter, Mary O'Reilly, Brianna Semler, Ethan Murray, and Corbin Callison.

    Schroeder Chiropractic presented the Healthy Attitude award to teacher Kyle Schenker and the HMS staff named Micalah Thayer as the Teacher of the Year.

    The assembly also included talent acts between awards’ presentation, as well as a slideshow created by the yearbook staff.  Those performing at the assembly included Libby Lundeen, Ayllita Khieu, Kayla Mason, Eli Norman, Tayler Szudarski, Maya Beavers, Charli Crouser, Cheyenne Cesonis, Maria Cesonis, Kinsley Brannon, Caroline Ochesky, and Kenzie Metcalf.
