The focus of the "Every Minute Matters" campaign is to emphasize the importance of each minute of attendance and how good attendance is an important habit for life beyond high school.
School attendance can have a major impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and in life.
The state measures our district’s attendance for accreditation purposes by looking at the percent of students who are here 90% of the time. Our attendance improved from 84.6% of students here 90% of the time in 2012-13 school year to 88.1% during the 2013-14 year to 89.4% of during the 2014-15 school year. We appreciate the partnership we have with our parents that make these improvements possible.
Every minute your child misses school matters when it comes to their opportunity for academic success. The state also uses minutes to figure our attendance percentage as a district. A few things to consider…
- If you have to schedule an appointment during a school day, please try to only take your child out of school for the actual appointment.
- Please be sure that your student arrives to school on time every day.
- Try to avoid checking your child out early.
