If you have issues logging in, please contact Launch - firstname.lastname@example.org (responses typically within 1/2 hour) or call (417) 523-0417.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on April 20, 2021Launch Parents,We have been told there was some confusion about our previous email regarding your last day of school with Launch. We reached out to the Launch director and were told the following would apply to ALL students:"Springfield updated their last day of school to May 27th. For Launch students they will need to have all work submitted no later than midnight on May 26th. The other piece of communication we’ve shared is that our courses have the last date of May 20th. This will give all students the extra week to get work submitted that they may be missing."We hope this clarifies any questions you have regarding the last day of school. If your Launch teacher told you something different, please go by this latest communication from the Launch director to us. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on April 19, 2021Launch Parents,We wanted to share that the last day of classes for Launch will be May 28th. We will collect computers and chargers June 1st-4th at McEowen (due to construction at HES). Drop off times will be 9:00a.m. - 11:00 a.m. each day or by appointment only. We will give out 20-21 yearbooks at the same time that computers and chargers are returned. If you did not get a computer and charger from HES but would like to pick up a yearbook for your child, you may stop by McEowen June 1st-4th to get one. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.Email Sent to 3rd Grade Virtual Families on April 19, 2021Good Afternoon Launch 3rd Grade Parents,We wanted to send a quick reminder about MAP testing next week. We are so excited to see your student!!~Arrival ends for HES around 9:00am.~Please do NOT arrive prior to about 9:20am. At that time, you can drop your child off using the circle drive at the front of the building.~Upon entering the building, temperatures will be taken and students will be asked to wear a mask until they get to the classroom in which they will be testing.~We have made sure to implement social distancing so students will not have to wear masks during testing unless they want to. It will be their choice.~Lunch orders will be taken once in the classroom. If your child brings a lunch, they will just need to tell Mrs. Powers that when she asks. Lunch choices for each day are listed below.~Upon completion of lunch, students will go back to the classroom to finish testing (2 day option students) or parents will be contacted for pick up (4-day option students). If your child is not eating lunch at school (4-day option students), you will be contacted upon completion of the testing for that day.~Parents of 2-day option students will be contacted upon completion of the testing for that day.~If you chose the 4-day option, but would like to switch to the 2-day option (or vice versa), please let me know ASAP. We currently have two 4-day students.~Please be sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before, has a book to read when/if they finish ahead of time, a pair of earbuds or headphones, and their computer. Please ensure computers are fully charged.~Please don't hesitate to call or email with any questions or concerns you may have.~Sidenote: Last day of Launch classes will be May 28th. Since this is a state requirement, ALL students in the third grade must come to school to complete the testing during the determined testing window. We have created two options for our Launch parents to choose from to give you some flexibility. Please know, due to Covid restrictions, we will not be able to give other options.Launch students will test in the computer lab and be placed six feet apart. They will be given breaks if needed. Upon entering, they will have their temperature taken and there will be hand sanitizer available. Students should bring their school issued laptop and personal headphones or earbuds to use. Students should also bring a water bottle as our drinking fountains have been turned off. However, we do have bottle fillers if needed. Masks will be required, please send your student with a mask. Please look at the two options below and fill out the Google form listed at the end of this email. If you have questions or concerns, please call Dr. Falke at 816-380-4131. We still have a handful of Art supply boxes that have not been picked up. If you still need one, please stop by HES any day that school is in person, between the hours of 10am and 2pm to pick up your box. Please remember, Art, Music, and PE are required courses by the state of Missouri. Most of our students are doing well in their homeroom class, but many are not completing their specials classes. We need to be sure we are doing all work in all classes. We noticed today that many students have not accessed their classes or submitted any work in more than a week, for some it has been two weeks. Emails will be sent to those parents whose student(s) is not progressing. Those students will need to return to in person learning. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Emily Powers (emily.winchel@
harrisonvilleschools.org) or Dr. Falke (tricia.falke@ harrisonvilleschools.org) or call the school office 380-4131. Thank you.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on January 27, 2021Launch Families - We have received most of the Art kits at HES. We are waiting for one more box to arrive. I will send out an email if we run out of Art kits before the last box is delivered to HES. Please feel free to stop by HES any day between 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. to pick up the kits. Let us know if you have questions!Email Sent to All Virtual Families on January 26, 2021HES Launch Families,Yesterday Mrs. Powers attempted to reach out to those parents who have a student struggling with participation in class or overall grades. As stated in previous emails, the expectation is that students are logging in and participating in all classes daily, including Art, Music, and PE. While we understand that Art kits have not arrived, the Launch teachers assure us there are still activities students can be doing while you wait.At this time, we are going to give all students until next Friday, February 5th to improve their participation and grade percentages or they will be required to come back to in person school if they fall below the acceptable levels. We expect 80% or better participation and 70% or better for each overall course grade. Your student's success is important to us. We will continue to contact you if your child is one with whom we have concerns. If you have questions or concerns about your child's participation and/or grades, please first reach out to the Launch teacher. If you still have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Dr. Falke. Thank you.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on January 12, 2021HES Launch Families,We are so thankful that the beginning of this semester has proven to be much more smooth than last semester's start. We have been told that art kids are on their way, and we will let you know as soon as they arrive. Please keep in mind that the expectation is for your child to complete all work in Homeroom, Art, Music, and PE. Dr. Falke will be checking grades and progress weekly. She will reach out if progress is not being made or if there are concerns about grades. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a wonderful week.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on December 16, 2020Launch will begin shipping elementary art kits and elementary workbooks to students enrolled in Launch’s K-5 courses on January 4, 2021. While workbooks will be sent to student homes, all art kits will be mailed to school districts. These kits need to be picked up at HES once they arrive. We will send out email correspondence to you once we have received your child's art kit. Let us know if you have questions.Email Sent All Virtual Families on December 2, 2020Virtual Families - Since your child's school schedule is based off of the Springfield School District calendar, your child will have school through December 22. 2020. Their Christmas break will begin on December 23rd. Third quarter begins Monday, January 4, 2021 for all Launch students.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on November 11, 2020Launch Parents,
As the district plans for the second semester, families are being asked to choose between in-person and virtual learning for their students. All families received an email yesterday and are asked to complete a choice form for each student by Friday, November 20 at 5 p.m. https://forms.gle/
HBTJ57UjN77FKCKE8. The entire email can be found on the district website - www.harrisonvilleschools.org - under District wide Parent Emails.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your attention in this matter.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on November 2, 2020HES Virtual Families - Since our Launch students follow the Springfield Public Schools calendar, HES virtual students will not have school on Tuesday, November 3. This only applies to HES virtual students.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on October 29, 2020Launch Parents,We hope this email finds you well and that you have found some success in completing the Launch courses for first quarter. At this time, the expectation is that your student has at least a 70% in all courses on Launch. Our understanding is that all technology issues have been resolved with Quaver, Zoom, and all other applications that Launch utilizes. Therefore, students should be able to complete all work. If your child does not have a 70%, a staff member from HES will be reaching out to see how we can assist in getting your child on track. Students' Launch scores will be reported to us to include in permanent files just as a grade card from school would be included.Within the next few weeks, you will receive a survey from the district asking which schooling option you would like to choose for second semester. In order for us to keep students enrolled in Launch, or change their enrollment to in person or home school, we will need all families to fill out the survey once it comes out. Please be on the lookout for that email.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on October 2, 2020Good Afternoon HES virtual families,Just a few reminders for this week:1. Launch teachers will be contacting you for a parent/teacher conference NOT HES.2. If you still do NOT have a workbook PLEASE contact your Launch teacher. Also if you need the page from the workbook it is on my Google site.3. My understanding from emails you have gotten from your Launch teachers, is that music is finally starting to work properly (woop woop).4. I will NOT be posting a video this week.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on September 25, 2020Good Afternoon. We will be sending out a report to parents each Monday. This report is given to us by Launch and does not necessarily mean your child has not logged on or hasn't done work. If you receive the email check with your Launch teachers as they are the ones inputting the information pulled by the report. Again, this report is simply a way for us to communicate the most up-to-date information provided by Launch. If you have STILL NOT received your workbook, please continue to reach out to your Launch teacher. The workbooks are on Mrs. Winchel-Power's website for you to use if need be. Supplies are still on backorder, but Launch says they should be delivered early October (fingers crossed). You should receive information from your Launch teacher in the next week or two regarding Parent/Teacher Conferences. Launch will host conferences for your child, so you will not sign up for a time with HES. An email will go out to all Harrisonville students (in person and online) in the next week regarding Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please disregard that email for your online students.HES Virtual Cohort Parents,Starting this week, Launch will send us a report every Monday that tells us which students are logging in, completing work, participating in activities, and attending Zoom meetings. However, it does not tell us individually which of these things your child has or has not done. This is a report that Launch created and generates for us. We will send you an email each week if your child falls into a category that tells us that they have not completed items for 10 days or more. Please know, some teachers may have different expectations than others, but we don't always have that information. We can only go off of what Launch sends to us. As a school, we feel it is our responsibility to share that information with you, as we know many of you have grandparents, babysitters, friends, or other family members helping your child. This is one way to make sure there aren't any students falling behind. We just want to make sure that, as parents, you have all information and communication available to us.If you receive an email, please contact your child's Launch teacher for further explanation as to why your child would be on the report. Most times there will be a simple explanation. For those who may have received the email this week, we would like to apologize for not sending an explanation out ahead of time and for any confusion or frustration that came with receiving the email. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on September 18, 2020Good Afternoon,We don't have a lot to share this week. I have noticed with messages that your teachers are sending out that Quaver is still not working for some or glitching. Quaver is still working on it with Launch. I am now doing Zoom for only individual scheduled meetings. Please be sure to reach out if you would like to meet with me. PICTURE DAY is September 21 & 22 5-8 PM. Please use the sign up genius that was sent out yesterday. Sign ups close on Sunday @ 12.Have a great weekend!Email Sent to All Virtual Families on September 11, 2020Good Afternoon,I hope this email finds you well. I am also hopeful that this week has gone smoothly. One thing I have learned this week is that your workbooks are on their way or have already arrived. If you still do not have workbooks please contact your homeroom teacher with your childs' name and your current address. Below you will find some more information given to us directly from Launch. Launch teachers should be your first contact when it is concerning classwork or apps/sites/links not working for class. They should be able to help and then can let Launch directly know. When sending emails to me(Mrs. Powers), if you could include your student's name so I know who we are referring to when having conversation that would be helpful. I am updating our google site weekly (mostly on Fridays), please check this for current information. This is also where I post my weekly videos with additional information. I have uploaded your workbooks PLEASE DO NOT PRINT THE WHOLE BOOK, just use the page you need. Again, your workbook is coming or is in the process. Lastly, I will continue meeting with each grade level next week but starting the following week it will look a bit different. I will only get on Zoom when we have scheduled an individual meeting. Available meeting times will be as follows and for 15 minutes.
Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday 11:00 AM NONE- AM 9:00 AM NONE- AM 9:40 AM Every day I am available to meet 2:30-3:30 PMDIRECTLY FROM LAUNCHUpdate: Elementary Student WorkbooksAs of September 10, all elementary (K-5) student workbooks have been shipped to students at their home addresses. Any student who has not yet received a workbook should notify their teacher. The teacher will work with Launch inventory specialists to verify the home address, and Launch will ship a new workbook as soon as possible.Elementary Art Kits StatusDue to nationwide supply shortages, Launch is unable to ship elementary art kits at this time. Please communicate to your families that we will provide students with their accompanying art kits as quickly as possible. Launch teachers are aware of the shortage and will not penalize students who do not have supplies. Teachers will also work with students and provide lists of alternative supplies that they may be able to find at home.I hope you have a wonderful weekend!Email Sent to All Virtual Families on September 9, 2020

See you guys Wednesday at 9 or 3!Email Sent to All Virtual Families on August 28, 2020Happy Friday HES virtual families,Next week is forecasted to be better and we sincerely hope it is. I have posted my first video of the year! I hope you enjoy your weekend and are able to unwind. We will see you all next week!
Email Sent to All Virtual Families on August 27, 2020Parents,Again we want to thank you for your patience, determination, and diligence as it pertains to working through the Launch experience. We have been in constant communication with Launch to work through some of the things we have seen come up this week. Today we were given some very hopeful news!Launch has assured us that all students have been placed with a Homeroom teacher and that classes will start on Monday!! All teachers should be calling parents in the next few days to introduce themselves, explain what the schedule will look like, and answer any questions you may have.Launch apologized for the delay in getting started and explained they had over 700 elementary students enroll in a 24 hour period, leading them to need to hire several more teachers. We have had some students who were able to get started with their Homeroom teacher this week and their response has been overwhelmingly positive. Below are some quotes from emails and calls we have received from HES parents regarding their experience with Launch once it truly got started. Student names have been replaced with "my child".
At this time, we feel it serves our students and families best if we give Launch one week of full instruction time before making any further decisions or changes. We understand the frustration that some of you have felt and issues you have encountered, but are confident in the Launch team and their ability to educate our students in the best possible way.Since the decision of in-person or on-line learning was a semester commitment, and we staffed our building accordingly, we urge you to give Launch a try for one more week. At that time, we will open up the conversation for choices that may be available based on individual needs. As a reminder, if you have trouble logging on the computer itself, please contact Dianne Cowan at 380-2424. If you have trouble logging on to Launch, Clever, or any other program within the Launch system, please contact Launch at 417-523-0417 or email them at email@example.com. You can also put in a ticket for help at fueledbylaunch.com.If you have questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Falke, but know that no changes in placement will be considered until we have given Launch a full week of instruction. Thank you.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on August 26, 2020HES Launch Families,We understand the frustration that has come with the beginning of this program. In order for us to better help serve you and be an effective advocate for our students, we are asking that you fill out the attached form tonight. We will be using this to determine the best steps and plans for our students moving forward. You only need to fill out one form per family. See link below.Email Sent to All Virutal Families on August 24, 2020Parents,Today seemed to be much better than yesterday. Yay!!We have heard that most of you are hearing from your Homeroom teachers, which is encouraging. If you have not yet heard from a teacher, you should by Thursday. Many of the teachers are new hires, and may not be quite ready to start class at this time. Therefore, we have compiled a list of websites below for you to utilize for further learning while we wait for the Launch teachers to be fully prepared.Mrs. Winchel-Powers will be working on creating a schedule that will allow her to meet with groups of students toward the end of this week and then weekly moving forward. She hopes to have that schedule out to you tomorrow. Your student will meet with her via the Google Classroom she has set up. We will send out the schedule, Classroom code, and any other pertinent information as soon as it is ready.Again, should you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Dr. Falke. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work to make this best possible learning experience for your child.Online Resources:Email Sent to All Virtual Families on August 24, 2020Parents,We want to first thank you for your patience and understanding as we work with Launch to understand and solve the problems that arose today. They have assured us that they are working on them and will get them solved. Below are a few points of information that should help with some of the issues you may have encountered today.1. Most students did not have assignments or activities ready to go today from their homeroom teacher. Launch has asked that we continue to be patient as they are working on getting all of that completed. If you don't hear from your child's homeroom teacher by Thursday, please let Dr. Falke know.2. Workbooks have been shipped or will be shipped in the next day or two. We know some work cannot be completed until the workbooks arrive. Launch is aware of that and is giving grace to students until the workbooks arrive. If you don't get your workbooks by Monday of next week, please let Dr. Falke know.3. Zoom, the website itself, was having issues today. Launch and Zoom are aware of the problem and are working to remedy the situation.4. Lexia and Dreambox are applications that are being run through your child's SPS (Springfield Public Schools) Google account. Launch has now added those, but they may not show up until tomorrow as the system has to sync and does so each evening.5. Until Launch has everything worked out, we are advising our families to work on the exploratory classes (Art, PE, Library, etc) by starting with Voyage 1 (activity 1) and working through those activities.6. Launch is aware that students are having log in issues and will not count these days against your attendance.7. Emily Winchel Powers is our computer lab teacher and has a full schedule each day. She will be able to answer emails and phone calls between 2:30-4:00 each afternoon. If you have a question or concern that directly involves Launch, their support team should be able to help. If not, please contact Dr. Falke at tricia.falke@

- "I just wanted to let you know how happy "my child" and I are with the Launch program! "My child" is working full steam ahead on reading and math (His teacher is slowly introducing the kids to their core subject online programs), and he loves the P.E., art, and other special courses he's involved in! I just wanted you to know how happy we are with everything so far!"
- "Launch, while starting rocky, seems to be a program that will be a great fit for our kids. The work and activities have been engaging and kept them interested."

Please know that our plan is to return phone calls and emails within 24 hours if not sooner. As a final note, we know today has been stressful for many of you and extend our sincere apologies for that. We would request that you give Launch through this week to work on the problems encountered before pursuing other options.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on August 24, 2020Good morning! We are aware that there are issues signing into Launch. We are in contact with Launch to get the problem resolved as quickly as possible. Today will not be counted against your student since it is a Launch issue. Mrs. Winchel Powers will not be available until 2:30 each day. If you have any issues prior to 2:30, please email or call Dr. Tricia Falke. Also, Launch is still working on finalizing teachers and schedules.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on August 21, 2020Parents,What a journey we are about to get into with Launch! I know we have a lot of wonderful things ahead. Today, I have had emails and phone calls with similar questions so I wanted to address them and give you an update.1. If a student wants to do Zoom with a teacher, they should now be able to. Zoom should ONLY be used for school.2. After students get logged on they will need to add their second gmail account. This is quite the task because the studen'ts device is set up differently because they have school restrictions. That being said, you must go to the top right corner where the circle with a picture or initials of the student. You will then click on that. At the bottom, click on "manage account". Once you have clicked on that you will then click on "manage accounts on this device". This will bring you to the page where you are now able to add an account. You will add their email from Launch, which is their launch student ID @sps.org. This will now allow you to have both your student's Launch and Harrisonville email together on their device.3. Launch Canvas, this is where the students will do their work. If an error message pops up saying you do not have the current version, please ignore it as they will still be able to log on. If it does not allow you to log on, let me know.4. Lastly, if you have not received an email from me and you still need your student's password, know I am working on that with technology and will have it for you by Monday. Also, if you have a function issue with the computer itself, please contact dianne.cowan@ harrisonvilleschools.org . Please include me on those emails so I know why your student may not be logging in.This is the google site I will be using to send out my weekly videos that will give updates and other important information.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on August 21, 2020IMPORTANT UPDATE: Launch Start DatePlease note: We are working as quickly as we can to deliver high-quality courses to Missouri students, by Missouri teachers. @MartyHuittEmail Sent to All Virtual Families on August 17, 2020Happy Monday Families,We have a couple of things we wanted to give reminders and some more details about.
Open House Information-highly recommendedTo help better serve our partner districts, students and parents, we’re hosting two Launch Virtual Open House sessions this fall. These sessions are designed to help Launch students, parents and families prepare for their upcoming fall 2020 Launch courses. Attendees will learn more about Launch, have the opportunity to ask Launch-related questions and learn tips and tricks on how to best support students in our courses. The elementary open house session will be on August 19 Please use this Launch Virtual Open House RSVP link to let them know you will attend. We strongly encourage you to join!Computer Pick-up-Thursday only-PLEASE sign upThursday, August 20th 8:00 am - 3:00 pm will be our HES Virtual Learning computer pick-up and information day. There will be a limit of four students per timeslot. Each student may only bring two adults (must be parent or guardian) and all those entering the building must wear a mask while in the building. Please choose one time slot from those available on the Sign-Up Genius. You must have an appointment time to enter the building. If you have more than one child picking up a device, please list each child separately. When picking up your child's device, you will also be given a charger, technology agreement and technology release. Students will also receive a Launch Student Information sheet that will contain all username, password, course information, and support contact information. There may be other paperwork for you to fill out as well. Please plan on enough time to complete all paperwork while in the building.ScheduleWe want to make sure our families know that their student will be expected to log on to their computer at 8:30 every morning. Students will spend about 4 hours and 15 minutes in teacher-led instruction classes online during the day and 2 hours and 45 minutes doing independent work. The online sessions will not run back-to-back, so there will be time online, then time offline (see attached sample schedule). The schedule does not allow for students to log in during the evening hours and receive the teacher-led instruction. The requirement is to have students logged in while the teacher is instructing live. Being a part of the teacher-led instruction is a requirement of this option.DeadlinesIf your child does not log in to Launch within the first 20 days you will be dropped by Launch and at that point you will have to make a decision on what is the best course of action for your family and student whether it is homeschooling or coming back in person. If you feel that Launch is no longer the best option for your child or your family, please notify Geriann in the front office by 3:30 pm Thursday, August 20th in order for her to enroll you in the in person option.Email Sent to All Virtual Familes on August 14, 2020HES Virtual Learning Cohort Families:It was brought to our attention that the time for the Launch Open House has changed. In reaching out to Launch about the time change, we were informed that they maxed out their Zoom capacity and had to add additional times. There is a good chance the current time available will also max out, so please be sure to RSVP and pay special attention to the time listed when you fill out the form. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.Email Sent to All Virtual Families on August 14, 2020Parents - No insurance fee will be charged for students K-5, but a fee schedule will be followed in case of damage to the school's device that is checked out to your child.
