“Fallen Not Forgotten”
The Harrisonville Police Department is honoring Officers Donald Marler, Francis Wirt and Chandler Sumner, who were killed in the line of duty working for the Harrisonville Police Department. The Harrisonville Police Department, as part of its “Fallen Not Forgotten” pledge, has developed and funded the Marler-Wirt-Sumner Scholarship through voluntary donations from Harrisonville Police Officers, city employees and community members.
The Marler-Wirt-Sumner Scholarship is an annual scholarship open to all graduating seniors of Harrisonville High School, the HPD Explorer’s Program or the Cass Career Center CJ/CSI Program. Preference will be given to those applicants pursuing a career in a law enforcement related field.
Deadline for the 2020 application will be Tuesday April 21st, 2020 and must be submitted to the Harrisonville High School Counseling Office or the Harrisonville Police Department by the end of the business day. Finalists will be interviewed the week of April 27 through May 1, 2020. Three $1000 scholarship awards will be presented this year.
