• COMMITTEES

     The following committees will be maintained to provide assistance with administration of the Practical Nursing Program:

     Advisory Committee

    The Advisory Committee members will be appointed by the Coordinator of the Practical Nursing program with the approval of the Director of Cass Career Center. Members will represent a variety of persons who are interested in practical nurse education practice and in improvement of patient care. The Advisory Committee is advisory only. The functions of the Advisory Committee are to: study and protect the needs of the program; assist with the interpretation of the philosophy and outcome criteria to the public; assist in securing funds for the program, scholarships and loans; advise on the development of policies and assist in recruitment; and establish admission policies which will be utilized by the faculty to select candidates for the class. This committee will meet twice a year or more often as needed.

    Students will be invited by the coordinator to attend each meeting, as the agenda allows.

     

    Faculty Committee

    The Faculty Committee consists of the members of the Practical Nursing faculty. The purpose of this committee is to develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate the curriculum, coordinate educational experiences for students, and develop and implement policies for student selection, progression and retention. This committee will meet monthly.        

     

    STUDENT COMMITTEES

                                                                                               

    Calendar Committee

    This committee will maintain a calendar in the classroom and online for the students and help remind students of upcoming days. The class will decide on the methods information will be distributed throughout the year. 

    All of the calendar committee ideas must be discussed in class meetings, ideas generated at meetings, and then, the committee will create surveys, distribute information, gather opinions, and bring it back to class meeting for a vote. All decisions must be voted upon by the class.

     Chairperson should set deadlines and agenda for each meeting.

    1. Maintain Calendar (shared to all students)
    2. Maintain Calendar and reminders in the classroom
    3. Will be added to Remind as an administrator to generate texts to students
    4. Generate emails to provide reminders to send to other students
    5. All documents created and shared with the class will be shared with the instructors
    6. Generate notifications to the class of upcoming birthdays and personal celebrations
    7. Create a monthly way to celebrate birthdays and celebrations. 

    Communication Committee

    All of the committee ideas must be discussed in class meetings. The ideas will be generated at meetings, and then, the committee will create surveys, distribute information, gather opinions, and bring it back to class meeting for a vote. All decisions must be voted upon by the class.

    1. Create posts to Facebook/Create closed Facebook group
    2. Maintain Calendar (shared to all students)
    3. Maintain Calendar and reminders in the classroom
    4. Will be added to Remind as an administrator to generate texts to students
    5. Generate cards for class to sign for special events/losses (Get cards from Mrs. Summers)
    6. Any other communication that can be created to help students

    Community Service Project Committee

    All of the committee ideas must be discussed in class meetings. The ideas will be generated at meetings, and then, the committee will create surveys, distribute information, gather opinions, and bring it back to class meeting for a vote. All decisions must be voted upon by the class.

    1. Decide on community service project for the year
    2. Must be completed by March of 2019
    3. Decide what it will be
    4. All students must participate
    5. Marketing must be generated for it
    6. Try to work in our community
    7. Create deadline and communication agendas to get it set up.

    Graduation Committee

    All of the committee ideas must be discussed in class meetings. The ideas will be generated at meetings, and then, the committee will create surveys, distribute information, gather opinions, and bring it back to class meeting for a vote. All decisions must be voted upon by the class.

    1. Graduation Decorations
    2. Invitations-What do we want to use
    3. A song to walk out of the auditorium
    4. Class Motto-Must be decided by October 1
    5. Two to three songs for DVD- (No profanity)-Get copies of songs on a flash drive or a link
    6. Graduation Picnic? Details
    7. Find a person/place to do DVD
    8. Speaker for graduation
    9. Thank you’s for graduation

    Holiday Celebrations Committee

    All of the committee ideas must be discussed in class meetings. The ideas will be generated at meetings, and then, the committee will create surveys, distribute information, gather opinions, and bring it back to class meeting for a vote. All decisions must be voted upon by the class.

    Chairperson should set deadlines and agenda for each meeting.

    1. Holiday Party is December 21st
    2. All students will attend
    3. Will last approximately two hours
    4. Decorations
    5. Food
    6. Sign-Up Sheet
    7. Include Families (Can do on Thursday evening)

    T-Shirt Committee

    All of the committee ideas must be discussed in class meetings. The ideas will be generated at meetings, and then, the committee will create surveys, distribute information, gather opinions, and bring it back to class meeting for a vote. All decisions must be voted upon by the class.

    Chairperson should set deadlines and agenda for each meeting.

    1. Create a design for T-Shirt (after suggestions from the class)
    2. Need design finalized before 11/1/2018
    3. Front and back-Include class motto if possible
    4. Manage gather sizes around mid-November (Mrs. Summers will notify you)
    5. Work to find a vendor. If not, we can use Vista Print or a local vendor (Program has some)
    6. School will pay cost
