McEowen Elementary School

Principal's Welcome

Dan Erholtz, Principal

Welcome to McEowen! We are a fourth and fifth grade building in the Harrisonville Cass R-IX School District. I'd like to personally invite you to McEowen for a tour to see our new cafeteria and remodeled office made possible to voters' support of a bond issue; we have a lot to show you! We have an experienced, caring, and committed staff. Our staff is striving to become a Professional Learning Community where adult learning increases student achievement. We are looking forward to a partnership with you this year, as it takes a collaboration of home and school to ensure student success.

We are in the fourth year of implementing the B.I.S.T. Behavioral Management System. B.I.S.T. is an approach that helps students be accountable for their actions and is based on three goals for the students:
1. I can take good care of myself, even if I am mad.
2. I can be okay, even when others are not okay.
3. I can be productive and follow directions, even if I don't want to.

We have found B.I.S.T. gives the McEowen Staff continuity and a common language when handling discipline issues, as well as consistency for the students.

You can contact me personally anytime by calling McEowen Elementary at 380-4545, or emailing me at erholtzd@harrisonville.k12.mo.us. I look forward to working with you this year. Together we can make a difference.
