Mrs. Enderle's "Extra Mile Club" I am trying something new this year based on a blog I found from another 4th grade teacher. Heather Renz created this program based on one she participated when she was in 5th grade in Oregon. My goal is the same as Mrs. Renz's, take learning "above and beyond" the classroom. I am also hoping it helps fill that question, "I am done, what can I do now?!?" It is completely voluntary, but I will track each student's progress and have an Extra Mile Club Hall of Fame where top achievers will be tracked through the years. How to participate: Students will choose a challenge 1-86, in any order or subject area, and do what is necessary to research and MEMORIZE the answer. As you can see below, websites have been included to assist in their research. This can be done with "free time" during school or at home. Most research will probably have to be completed at home, but students are free to study or have friends quiz them at school. When they are ready for the "test", they will come to me and tell me their challenge out loud. I will record their answers and check them. Testing can take place before/after school, during lunch, or recess. The student either passes or not. If they do not pass they can test the next school day. They can test as many times as necessary to pass the challenge. I will then keep record of their achievement on a master list.
