6th Grade students have FACS class for 1 quarter (9 weeks). Due to the short time we get together, 6th graders jump right in and begin the sewing unit on the 2nd day of class! Students are required to make a pillowcase. All supplies are furnished for the students. However, if you would like, fabric can be purchased for the project. 1 yard of fabric is needed to make most projects. A list of fabric stores in the area is available under the "Fabric Stores" link on the left side of this website. Please contact me with any questions at (816) 380-7654 ext. 5833 or jaclyn.sanders@harrisonvilleschools.org.
The cooking part of the 6th grade course is an introduction to various kitchen appliances. These include microwave, stove, oven, blender, waffle iron, and stand mixer (Kitchen Aid). Students must first complete the 100 point sewing project before moving on to the cooking portion of class.
