Reader's Workshop: This week in reader's workshop, we are continuing our unit on determining importance. This week, we will talk about how to retell a story. We will discuss that readers should use important events from the beginning, middle and end, as well as telling about the problem and solution of the story.
Writer's Workshop: This week we will begin our unit on persuasive writing. To begin, we will learn what persuasive writing is and will work on finding a good topic for persuasive writing that we care a lot about. We will also begin to learn that we need to mix opinions and facts when we write a persuasive piece. |

Math, Spelling, and Social Science |
Math: This week, we will begin our unit on graphs. In this unit, we will learn about bar graphs primarily and will work on creating them and reading/interpreting them. I will also show students a variety of other graphs and we will learn the purposes for different graphs.
Spelling: The words for Unit 25 are: face, door, cut, done, group. The concept that we will focus on in this unit is that compound words are when we have two words that can be put together to make a new word.
Social Science: We will begin our unit on geography. This week, we will learn about natural resources, latitude and longitude, and the landforms and climates we have in our country. |
