About Me

Hello!  My name is Lisa Hern, and this is my 15th year of teaching music at Harrisonville Elementary School.  I have been teaching music to students of all ages for more than 23 years now through public schools, private studio, and church.  I recently completed a Masters of Arts degree in music education from the University of Central Missouri.  I have a Bachelors of Science degree in vocal music education grades K-12 from William Jewell College.  I have certification in both the Orff and Kodaly methods of music education.  My husband of 24 years is James; I have two sons, Tyler and Landon, and a dog named Molly.  I was honored a few years ago to have been nominated as a Harrisonville Educator of the Year Finalist and have also had the privilege of receiving other numerous teaching awards.  Besides spending my time instilling a love for making music in my students, I also enjoy spending time with my family, serving at my church, and developing my own musicianship.  I am so thankful to have such an exciting and rewarding job!
