DISTRICT NEWS

Food Drive
Each year the district sponsors a food drive for our local food pantry.  This year's food drive will be December 8-12.  The week's theme centers on a holiday meal with the focus on different parts of the meal for each day's donations.  Monday is the Main Course (tuna, pasta, beans), Tuesday focuses on Side Dishes (canned fruits and vegetables, rice, macaroni), Wednesday centers on Desserts (cake/cookie mixes, sugar, flour, jello), Thursday is Kids Table (baby food, cereal, oatmeal), and Friday wraps up the drive with Leftovers (anything and everything, plus paper products).  All donations will be given to the Shepherd's Staff Food Pantry sponsored by the Harrisonville Ministerial Alliance.

Inclement Weather
Cancellations and closings can occur as winter weather begins.  The district has sent home a letter from the superintendent which outlines our procedures.   We will be using School Reach, the automated calling system whenever school is cancelled or if we have to release early.   The text messaging system, Wildcat Alerts, will also be used.  If you're not signed up for this service, you can do so on the district website.   Sports and activities cancellations will also be posted on the district website.

Health & Wellness
With the arrival of winter, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind parents about policies in regards to sickness.  If a child runs a temperature, we ask that he/she be kept home from school for a minimum of 24 hours after the fever breaks (not on acetaminophen or ibuprofen) .  If a child needs to take medication, a parent needs to bring that medication to the school nurse.

In addition, we want to encourage you to talk to your child about good hygiene including proper hand washing, sharing of personal items and/or drinks, and proper cough cover technique.

District Report Card
Each year, the district provides information to our patrons in the form of a District Report Card.  The information contained in the yearly report is always based on the previous year's data.  Our report card can be accessed through the district website at www.harrisonvilleschools.org . Just click on the About Our District menu and select School Report Card.
